Back from camping

Credits: Quickpage from J. Baechtold (Scrapper's Guide); Vintage frames from Digiscrap.ch; Pristine action by Atomic cupcake; Font is Monotype Corsiva

Good afternoon! I didn't have a chance to post this before I left Friday but this was the layout I did for Greg for Father's day. I printed a small version and made a card out of it.
We just returned yesterday afternoon from our weekend camping trip. We decided to stay an extra night because we got a late start on Friday. We headed out at 11 friday and about 1o minutes from our house the brake controller on the trailer went out. We turned around and Greg worked on the problem until it was fixed so we didn't head out again until 4:30! The boys were such troopers about it so that helped. We only had about a 1 1/2 hour drive to our campsite near the town of Estes Park so we got there in time to set up the pop-up, eat dinner and make S'mores! I left my laptop at home and there was no cell service to speak of so it was a technology-free weekend and very relaxing...well as relaxing as camping can be with a 2 yo, a 4 yo and a dog, LOL! We did drive into town to grab a Starbuck's so I wasn't roughin' it too much! I took lots of pictures and there's some good scrapping material there so I need to get on the ball with my kit, so hang tight! If you want to view my pictures, you can do it HERE.

More camping stuff on the way

It seems there's enough interest in a camping kit to motivate me to do one, LOL! I've started making some elements and a paper pack. I want to release the papers first and I like to have 20 in my pack so it will take a few more days, I only have about half that so far. I also hope to get a Father's day card done with some pics I took of the boys today. I'll post that, too :) Thank you for all the great comments on the alpha, I'm trying to coordinate the kit to go with it. For now...happy scrapping!

Camp Enamel Alpha Freebie

'Tis the season for camping here in Colorful Colorado, so I'm going to kick things off with this camp enamel alpha. This may or may not be the theme of my next kit, I haven't decided yet if I want to do that or one of my other many ideas, LOL! We'll just have to wait and see where my creativity takes me. I do have a camping trip coming up Father's Day weekend which means I will have pictures to scrap...so maybe I should go with this...hmmmmmm. Credits: Thank you to Tandika Star at Digiscrapdesigner.com for products used in the making of this alpha.

'Through This Life' charity kit

Is this kit amazing or what? If you would like to read more about where 100% of the proceeds for this kit will go or if you want to purchase it, GO HERE.
It was so exciting to be a part of a charity kit and to actually see my name on a product with other talented designers. I would love to do more charity kits in the future.

My contribution to a charity kit

In my previous post I mentioned I was going to be contributing to a charity kit for one the the designers at www.digiscrapdesigner.com. Carol's husband had terminal cancer and, unfortunately passed away early this morning. She is now left with enourmous hospital bills to pay. This is a preview of my contribution to a larger charity kit that is in the making. As soon as the kit is complete I will put a preview and a link up for those that would like to help out.

Happy Tuesday!

I just have to say Thank You, again for all the wonderful comments left about my latest freebie! It really makes me feel very happy and inspired :). My next little project is going to be a contribution to a charity kit. One of the designers at www.digiscrapdesigner.com needs help paying hospital bills for her husband with terminal cancer. I'm just going to add a little part to a larger kit. When the kit is complete, I will post a link to the store for those that may want to pick it up for a good cause. Until next time....happy scrappin'!

Final Grungy Athlete Freebie

WooHoo! I finally got it together and got this freebie done! Sorry for the delay. I lost my designing mojo big time and have been doing everything BUT being on my computer. No worries, though, this happens to me once in awhile and eventually it comes back and I go in turbo mode...but I'm not there yet...I had to struggle to get these done but I hate unfinished business so here they are! I have no idea what I'm going to do as my next project but when it hits me, I'll know :) It may be while with the rate I'm going, LOL! Enjoy!

Checking in...

I wish I could say I have a freebie for you today...but not yet. This is why I could never be a designer for pay, LOL, I work at a snail's pace. I will try to at least have a little something for you in the next day or two. Actually, I haven't had my TV on for 4 days so the boys and I have been doing active things outdoors instead...a good thing for all fo us! DH left on a train last night headed for Chicago for a seminar and he'll be gone for 6 days! He's never left home longer than one night since our kids have been born so this single parent thing should be interesting. I suspect I'll be wiped out at days end because DH usually cooks dinner and puts the boys to bed every night while I relax(or pick up the house a bit if it's a disaster)....spoiled I am! Anyway, I'm glad you have all been enjoying the kit so far and thank you for all the nice comments.
I want to remind you, again, to check out the spotlight section to see some layouts that have been done with my kits...I so appreciate seeing your work!

Grungy Athlete Elements part 1 Freebie!

Thanks for being patient! Here's part 1 of Grungy Athlete Elements. Eventually I will release part 2, LOL! I apologize to all those that have girls in sports because my clip art only had men!
If you're a non-sports person, you should download this for the buttons because they go nicely with the papers :) Enjoy!

Happy Mother's day..late

I want to send out a belated Happy Mother's day wish to all the moms out there...and that includes those that are moms to pets because, of course, that counts, too!I hope you all got spoiled. The plan for me was to sleep in but when the boys came in the room to give me my cards we were all snuggling in bed together and I got a craving for doughnuts! So, we went out to get our Starbucks and pastries and had a relaxing day. I finished it off with a yoga class in the evening. I was so excited about one of the yard sales I found Friday. My intention was to find clothes for my oldest son. I didn't find much at the first two but the third sale had a huge table of boys clothes in sizes 4, 5 and 6. Exactly what I needed. The clothes were in such good shape and they were high quality and smelled like they had just been washed (always a plus!). I asked her how much they were and she said 25 cents a piece! I bought 37 pieces of clothing and 4 toys for $10!!! What a deal!
I'm still working on some elements for the sports kits so be patient. I get an idea and start working on it, then midway I get another idea, open a new document and start working on it. The next thing I know, I have several windows open with things half done and nothing complete! I just need to put some finishing touches on the few things I have going and get them out there :) See you soon! Oh, for the pet lovers out there...I'm sure most of you have seen the awesome pet kit this month at Scraps for Charity....it is so cute and for such a good cause! I'm feeling inspired to do another pet kit of my own soon!

Another Layout

Credits: Template by Dumpty; Fonts-Allstar and Acme secret agent

This is my youngest son, Riley, he's 2 and a 1/2 and I think he will be a sports guy...he's a tuff little dude! Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day, I'm off to hit the yard sales!

A Thank You, a Layout and a Tip!

Credits: Scraplifted a layout by 74sim for Maria's weekly challenge; Wild tear action on frame by Atomic Cupcake; Felt action on brown tag by Tandika Star at digiscrapdesigner.com; stitches from Flip Flop Fun(re-colored); Font is Allstar.

This layout is sorta funny to me because I took this picture of my oldest son when he was 7 months old after he received this outfit from his uncle in Oregon. Well, he's 4 and 1/2 now and has never had the slightest bit of interest in sports. He has never wanted to play with balls of any kind, be it throwing, catching or kicking. Now, put a set of Lego's, K'nex or TinkerToys in front of him and he will build advanced structures beyond his age! He will be my scholar and this may very well be the only sport related picture I ever get of him, LOL!
Now, on to my "Thank You" to all the awesome comments you have left on here and 4-shared...you are the best! My ego has been boosted way up there! I guess I will continue with some more elements, LOL!
*TIP* just a little tip about the patches. Since I made those last year and released them before I made all these grungy papers, I noticed they are too clean looking to really match all this grunge. So.....if you noticed on my layout above, I grunged up the football patch a bit. Just create a layer above the patch, choose a dry or chalk brush, pick a dirt color brown and just make some smudges. Play around with the opacity until it looks like dirt and there you have it...grunge!

Grungy Athlete Paper Pack Freebie

Hello All! Here's a paper pack for you! It's called Grungy Athlete but as you can see I kept the sports balls as overlays so you could make the papers 'Sporty' or you can choose not to use the overlays and just have a bunch of grungy papers....oh, and a paper that looks like a grungy football field that I had to throw in there! They are all mixed up in no particular order in the 5 (yes, 5) downloads and the preview is only in 1 of the zips (can't remember which one). Enjoy the grunge!

This Item is no longer free but can be purchased in MY STORE

I had a wondeful day at the Zoo today with my boys and two of my nephews! The weather was perfect! I will be going to my 5th Yoga class tomorrow night and I've been so sore but I love it! I haven't done anymore layouts but I think I might do one tonight...or just go to bed!

Sports Patches Freebie

Here's your NSD freebie! Eventually I will have more stuff to coordinate with these patches and I'm going to call it "Grungy Athlete" Special Thanks to Atomic Cupcake! I hope you all have a wonderful day and are grabbing lots of goodies out there.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

..and Happy Cinco De Mayo...and Happy Anniversary for my DH and I! We've been married for 8 years but have known each other for 19! I hope you're all going to take advantage of all the fun scrapbooking stuff going on this weekend. I was going to try to design a special freebie to give out today but instead I decided to give out a little something I made last year but you'll have to come back a little later for it because I need to make a preview and get it zipped up. I THINK I will use this freebie as the inspiration for my next kit, however, I'm still on break so don't expect it real soon ;) I did manage to do one layout for Maria's Weekly Challenge at digital freebies. The challenge is to use the font Joyful Juliana that you can download for free (link is in Maria's post). Here's my layout:

Credits: Template by Tracy B; Kit-Gummy Grins Sweet by Sarah Meyer; star brad by me; Atomic Cupcake frayed fabric action; Font-Joyful Juliana

Does anybody out there do Yoga? I took my first ever yoga class Thurs night and I really enjoyed it so I went again Thurs night, bought a mat and signed up for a month. I've been wanting to do it for years so now I'm going to get serious about it...say it with me..."ohhhhhmmmmmmmm" See you later with a freebie!

Gonna take a little designing break...

I won't be gone for long so don't forget about me :). The thing about me, as I'm sure many of you will relate to, is that I don't have hobbies....I have obsessions! When I get involved in something I enjoy, I tend to dedicate my every spare minute to it(even the minutes that aren't spare but should be used for other things like laundery, LOL!). It's been so long since I browsed galleries and digi stores or even made a layout. I'm not going to take a complete break from designing because I need that creative outlet but I'm going to try to limit my computer time to evenings for a bit. I have a couple ideas for my next kit that I'm going to work on while I'm on a blog break. So on that note, I will be back in a week or maybe two with goodies! I may post some layouts in the meantime since I haven't even had a chance to use Playful Plaid yet, LOL! Thank you again for leaving such super comments they mean so much to me! I will be back soon!

Embroidered Alpha Freebie!

I really hope you enjoy this embroidered alpha because it was a pain in the patootie to make, LOL! I'm sure there was an easier way but I didn't do it that way :). I won't go into the gory details but as you can see, each letter has four layers (one in each color) and each of those layers had to have the embroidery action (from Atomic Cupcake) run on it...and it's a somewhat slow action. I think at one point my document had over 100 layers! I was able to catch up on some of my TV shows while doing it so I guess I shouldn't whine too much, huh? Well, off the subject, I got my hair cut back to shoulder length today for the summer so now my pic is outdated again! Here's your alpha...Enjoy! (BTW, you really don't have to leave a comment for this because you have all left such wonderful comments on this kit so far that I won't be offended if you just grab it and go!

This item is no longer free but may be purchased in MY STORE

Thank you! Thank you!

You are all so awesome with your heartfelt comments and thank-you's about my designs!!! Thank you for the wonderful suggestion, too! I put them in my idea journal to keep track of!
As you can see, I updated my blog picture. I was so tired of seeing that picture of myself every time I opened my blog. I tried to take one of myself but kept getting that classic 'wide angle' view of my face that happens when you take a pic of yourself. I decided to recruit my 4 YO to take my pic and that's what you see over there. I think he may have a knack for taking pictures along with his ever-improving photoshop skills!
Do you ever have a moment when things just work in your favor? Well I had one of those moments yesterday concerning my dog, Kayla. (Waring: kinda gross so if you're not a pet person you may want to skip this). I was out in the front yard with the boys and was planning on being out there for awhile. Kayla is usually out with us but it was too hot for her so I had her in the house. My 2 YO got mad about something and went inside. Being 2, he can't be left alone longer that 3 minutes so I went in to check on him. Upon entering the house, I heard Kayla, not scratching but pounding on the back door to get out. I thought maybe she just saw a squirrel or something so I let her out. She made a beeline to her potty spot in 2 seconds flat and let out the biggest pile of wet diarrhea! All I could think was that had I stayed out in the front yard even 5 minute longer, that would've been in my house! Some things just work out right! She's fine today:)
I have and apha done and will post it in the very near future...Have a good one!

Tags, Frames, Stickers and Patches Freebie!

Here's your next freebie to play with! I have two different styles going because I couldn't decide which way to go. I really wanted to add some embroidered elements but it seems paper cutouts and stickers are popular right now...so...you get both! I also threw in a quote tag because I need to practice my wordart :) I may do an Alpha next but that will probably be all unless a good idea hits me in the middle of the night or if you have suggestions for add-ons that I didn't include. I love suggestions even if I can't fulfill them all. Thank you for your wonderful comments...Enjoy!

Rainy day here and no freebie yet.

Just checking in to say "hi"! I was hoping to have a freebie for you by now but my computer time has been rather limited these past two days. I'm going to get in gear tonight and get somethin' going for "my people" :) It has been raining non-stop here since yesterday evening. I like rain because everything is so beautiful after a hard spring rain...I just hope it doesn't last too long. I went shopping last night at Kohl's. I was long overdue for some new threads. I've had a store credit there for over a year plus a gift card I got for Xmas and then I got another gift card there for my birthday. I thought it was about time I go and use them up. I did just that plus had to throw in $6 of my own money! I like what I bought but I really don't enjoy shopping all that much. I must've tried on 50 things and didn't like most of them and finally had to stop because they were closing, LOL! Anyway, I'm just rambling but I should be designing, right? OK, I'm outta here...have a good one!

Celestial Brads, Eyelets and Bows Freebie!

Here's those bows I promised you. Well I call them "sorta" bows because they aren't tied in a knot like a traditional bow but...well... bows are hard to make and I'm still learning, so these will have to do :). I think they turned out pretty cute, though. Also, some brads and eyelets for you just because they're fun to make! Thank you Atomic Cupcake! Thank you all again for the birthday wishes that keep coming, it's so kind of you to take the time. I've had a wonderful weekend and have eaten enough to last me for months. Enjoy these goodies!

My new header!

I wanted to send out a big Thank you to Jennisa at Jennisa's attempt at design for creating and installing my header for me. I'm clueless when it comes to jazzin' up my blog. If you are interested in having Jennisa create and install one for you, pop on over to her blog and get one! By the way, she does it for FREE! Here blinkie is in my sidebar, also.

Wow, Thank you!

I've been gone most of the day, having fun and when I got home I found on here and on 4Shared a total of 78 birthday wishes from across the globe...now that makes a person feel special. Thank you all. I'm going to relax and watch "Happy Feet" since I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't seen it yet. Have a good night (or day)!

My Birthday and a Freebie for you!

On this day, 40 years ago...I was born :)! On this day, today, I'm a very fortunate, healthy and happy person with a wonderful life! I have some page toppers for you to play with. I call them page toppers but I'm sure with some creativity, other things can be done with them, too. I had some bows to give you today but as I was making my preview last night, I decided they needed some improvement so I'm going to do just that and you'll have to wait a bit for those :). Also in the making are tags, brads, eyelets, a frame or two and possibly an Alpha and some word art. So much for a mini-kit, huh? I tend to get a little carried away but I'm pretty sure no other kit I make will be as mega as the Felty series, LOL! Thank you for the thoughtful comments and compliments on my designs. It's the comments and number of downloads I see that inspires me to keep giving you more of what you want. Special Thanks to Atomic Cupcake and Tandika Star (DidgiScrapDesigner.com) for their wonderful Actions. Enjoy!

Celestial Buttons Freebie

As promised....some buttons! I thought I'd spice things up a bit, and add a yellow button to the color scheme :) Everyone can use a yellow sunny button in their life, right? If you just found my blog, be sure and get the two paper packs and ribbons to coordinate with these buttons. Enjoy!

Sniffle, Sniff

Seems I have a bit of a cold. Yesterday morning, I just thought my allergies were bugging me so I took a Claritan but as the day went on, I continued to go downhill. Not enough to go to bed or anything, but enough to slow me down. I was relaxing in bed last night with my laptop creating some buttons for my next freebie and DH brought me some cold medicine. I started feeling drowsy and fell asleep. Then I dreamed of making buttons ALL night long! I hate when that happens. As soon as I package them up, I'll send them out! Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments...they really motivate me to keep creating and giving! I've been getting some wonderful layouts from you, too, and that always make me feel good. I wish you all a happy day!

Playful Plaid "Celestial" Freebie

Of all the ideas I brainstormed with, I decided to give my Playful Plaids a celestial theme. I figured with about 500+ baby pics for each of my boys (the first month, LOL) this will be useful but also versatile enough for other things as well. There will be more elements to come! Enjoy!

This kit is no longer available but may but may be purchased in MY STORE

Playful Plaid Freebie!

Here's a paper pack I came up with last night. I atually made many more papers than this but I'm not sure I want to release them yet. They started to follow a theme that I'm not sure goes well with these colors. I may change my mind though. Have you noticed I'm a very indecisive person????? This will get you started though...enjoy! Special thanks to tandika Star at DigiScrapDesigner.com!

The results are in...

and #2 is the winner! #3 came in second and #5 was in third place. Sadly, #1 and 4 tied for last place and those are my favorite two, LOL! I've always been a warm color person as you can see from my blog colors. But, hey, I love a challenge so it will be fun to see what I can come up with. I had stated in a previous post that I was going to have you vote on a theme but I have since changed my mind. Thanks for voting!!!! I decided that rather than locking myself into a theme I'm going to keep things versatile with maybe a little something in there for everyone.....yes, even our furry friends! I've also decided that instead of working on a whole kit at once I'm going to release pieces of it as I get them done. I'm always open to suggestions if there is something you want, please run it past me. I won't be able to fulfill all requests but if it can be done (with my current skills) I'll give it a try! I know there's been some requests for things related to other pets like guinea pigs, birds and snakes but I found it difficult to find things related to those animals that were OK for commercial use(custom shapes and such) so my resources were limited. So, for now, you'll just have to live with cat and dog things!
As for snow...they were predicting 6-12 inches starting during the night and I don't see a single flake out there! I guess it missed us but somebody probably got some, somewhere! Maybe now we can finally move on to spring again :).
Have a great day!

Coffee.......I just love it!

I became hooked on Starbuck's coffee about a year or two ago. It started with Pumpkin spice fraps around the holidays, Mocha or coffee fraps in the summer and just plain old coffee of the day, black, all the rest of the time. I used to drag the boys out to the drive-tru almost every morning to get my fix but now I spare them the drive ( and save money, too) by grinding and brewing my own at home (I get the BIG bag of beans at Costco) now and only visit the drive thru for my occasional fraps. Anyway, my favorite time of the day is just after my coffee is fisnished brewing, the boys are eating their breakfast and I have a few minutes to get on the computer and do my daily downloads, check e-mail, read the news and read all the wonderful comments I get from "my people" (that what I call those of you that read my blog, LOL!) Thanks for all the votes on the swatches...so far # 2 is in the lead. I think I will keep the voting open until midnight tonight, Colorado time. Since I've decided I like to design but I don't like coming up with ideas, I'm next going to let you vote on a theme, so check back and place you votes for that. The weatherman is saying a BIG spring storm is heading our way tonight so I don't think I'll be going anywhere this weekend. I also wanted to thank those of you that have sent me links to your layouts for my spotlight section (in the sidebar), they are all so cute!

Public service announcement!

I wanted to help put the word out about a sight called Scraps For Charity.
It is a 100% non-profit organization. Several talented designers get together each month a create a kit with the proceeds going to a different charity each time. The preview above is this months kit...very bright and colorful. Stop by and pick up all or just a part of this wonderful kit and help save a life...one kit at a time!

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Voting is closed!

I've chosen some color schemes for my next mini-kit but I need your help narrowing it down. Please leave a comment and vote for a scheme you like. I will leave these up for a few days. If you aren't too fond of any of these choices, maybe next time I'll accept submissions! Thanks! I forgot to mention when I first posted this that these swatches are courtesy of Tandika Star at Digiscrapdesigner.com.

New freebie coming soon!

Hand in there! I'm a slow working designer, LOL! I'm just working on a little mini-kit and I have a few more things to add to it. I'd like to finish it up this week but I also need to get a photo of my boys and make an Easter card to send out by Thursday or Friday....That's what I'll be doing tomorrow I guess *grin*. Well, have a good night, I'm off to photoshop....hop, hop, hop!

Quickpage in PNG

By request I added the quickpage in PNG format. The link is in the post below with the other links!
Thank you all, again, for the wonderful comments on the kit and Candy's album.
Donnatopia- thank you for the link Shutterfly and the idea for a photobook :). I have a few 8x8 albums already on hand (I buy them when they go on sale) and I have one of those large format printers(not that I need it for 8x8) so I printed Candy's pages out yesterday and they turned out so nice. I also added a page with the story of Rainbow Bridge and those stick-on acid free clear envelopes with her tag and a tuft of fur.

Final add-on Freebie!

This REALLY is the last add-on for this kit, LOL! I've never made a quickpage before so this one is in PNG format but if you need it in another format...please let me know! Enjoy!

Quickpage PNG
Quote and Ribbon

Final 2 layouts and a re-do!

Credits: Notepaper from Weeds & Woldflower's Welcoming Spring freebie; Felt and metal edge actions from Tandika Star at DigiScrapDesigner; Folded corner technique from Scrapper's Guide on frame (see post below for link); Font is Dupree.

I have to admit I'm a little sad to see this album come to an end. It has been great therapy for me and I highly recommend it for those that have lost a furbaby! I have enjoyed sharing it with all of you that have visited my blog and downloaded my freebies and left wonderful comments! This is the last picture I took of Candy one week before we suddenly and unexpectedly had to say goodbye. I knew she was ill but I really thought we would would have lots more time with her. She LOVED the snow and this was the last time she got to play in it. I don't know what possessed me to get my camera out that day but I'm so glad I did! She would've been 14 on April 3rd.

Credits: Triple Pic Template by SStanton: Wild tear and silver actions by Atomic Cupcake.
The only thing that bumms me out about this page is that I don't have a single picture of Candy with my yougest son, Riley. I know I tried many times but neither one would sit still long enough for me to get one. So, it doesn't feel complete :(

Credits: Sketch by Leanncang from 3Sprapateers: Fonts are Dupree, Army condensed,Beautiful ES and Type keys filled.
I redid this layout completely! The original is a few posts down titled "Happiness is" I can live with this one. It's hard to make a layout with more than 3 pictures and make it look good without making the pics too small. I would've preferred to make a seperate layout for each pic but that would give me too many pages to fit in my album so I had to condense. TFL!

Folded Corner

First off, Big thanks for the wonderful comments on Candy's christmas page. If you don't already know how to do a folded corner and want to learn...I'll give you a link to a video tutorial that I used to make my corner. It will cost you a $1 but it is such a great technique to know that it is worth all 100 pennies! Santa dog

Candy's album wouldn't be complete without her Christmas pics! She was always so tolerant of things like that. (notice Kayla in the background with a look on her face as if to say "please don't try to put that silly hat on me again").

Freebie! Collars and tags

OK, I said the last freebie was going to be IT for the Felty kit but I went ahead and made this an add-on too, becuase I realized I never included a peach background in the original kit. As you can see, though, I made the collars and tags a neutral color so they can be used with any kit! Scroll down a bit to see a tutorial on how to engrave your tag in Photoshop.

Tutorial - Engraving a metal tag

This tutorial is written for Photoshop but I hope those of you using other programs will be able to translate this technique and figure a similar way to do the same thing in your program.

1. Open up your metal tag and save it under a new name.

2. Make a new layer above your tag (LAYER>NEW) and use the TEXT tool to type your word/words in black. For my tutorial I used Courier(T1) but other fonts work well, too.

3. Now make sure your text layer is selected. We are going to add a bevel and emboss layer style. Open the layer style dialog box (by clicking LAYER>LAYER STYLE>BEVEL AND EMBOSS).

4. If you're using a font similar to this one, you can leave everything as the default setting except change the direction from UP to DOWN...

...However, if you chose a different, bolder font, you may have to play with other settings to get a desired effect. Click OK.

5. Now, make sure your text layer is still selected and change the FILL value to anywhere from 0% to 30%. I used 30% for this font but other fonts look better with the fill value set to zero%.

When you are happy with your engraving, you can save your new engraved tag as a PNG and use it in your layouts! Let me know if you have any questions about this tutorial, my e-mail is at the top left corner.

ALSO: for a tutorial on attaching your tag to the collar, Misty Cato has a great tutorial that explains the technique HERE

My 2 boys!

I've been working on another layout of Candy and no matter what I do, I don't like it. Don't you hate it when that happens? I thought I would do a couple layouts of my boys to try and get my mojo back, LOL. I took these pics (and many more) out in the backyard yesterday and had to scrap them. Riley is 2.5 and Hunter is 4.5 and they are loving the sunshine after months of snow! On another note, I hope all of you with pets have not been affected by the pet food recall. Luckily I don't feed Kayla any of the brands listed. I gave both her and Candy PurinaOne for years but Kayla's had such a problem with allergies that I switched her to an all natural food with lots of meat and very little grains and she has less itching now. I did a lot of research on dog food and it's amazing how bad most of the poplar brands are for our dogs. Anyway, if any of your furbabies have been affected, my heart goes out to you...it's so sad.
Thanks for the compliments on my last layouts, It's nice to hear that I'm inspiring people to get those pet layouts done! I'm still putting the finishing touches on my next freebie so hang tight :)

Terms of endearment layout :)

I started out using Template #18 by Saab but it really ended up looking nothing like it but that's where the inspiration started so I will still give credit :)

Doggone Cute

Credits: Based on a template by Sandy Vogt. I didn't use the actual template because it's not available anymore but I used it as a guide.
Happy St Patrick's Day! I finally added my picture so you can see a more recent face behind the kit. It was taken a couple of years ago but I haven't changed much...my hair is a little longer and I have a few more wrinkles but other than that, it's me! (no 80's hair anymore,LOL!)

A little info about overlays

credits: Atomic Cupcake's painted wood action used on the letters

If you haven't used many overlays, I'll give you a little info on them, if you have, well you can ignore this :). I probably should've mentioned this about the overlay that I included in the original kit I put up (the worn overlay) but I'll mention it now. I use Photoshop so I don't know if this is the same in other programs or not. When you place the overlay on the layer above the paper you're using it on, you will get different effects when you change the Blend Mode of the overlay layer. For most of the layouts I've done using the worn overlay, I set the blend mode to "Soft Light" because it makes a very sublte effect. In the layout above, I also used "soft light" for the white words overlay. If you notice, it makes the letters look a lighter shade of the layer it is on top of (eg. the letters look light blue on the blue paper, light peach on the peach paper, etc) To see how each blend mode will affect the layer I highlight the blend mode and use the arrow key to scroll through each mode to see what I like. You can come up with some pretty interesting stuff this way. If I have thouroughly confused you or if you would like to learn more about blend modes, click HERE for a detailed explanation. Experiment and have fun!

Freebie! Pet Words Add-On

Well, this will most likely be the final installment of my Felty Dog/Cat kit (unless I design something while finishing Candy's last layouts, then I will, of course, pass it on to you :)) I am, however, working on another pet freebie that can be used with this kit or any other pet kit. I will have it done sometime in the next week for sure. Thank you to everyone that left me a note of thanks about any part of this kit...it means the world to me and I have read each and every one of them! In this add-on, I decided to do the words as 12x12 overlays so it will offer more flexibility with background colors. I made the small word overlays white but they are really meant to re-color, change the blend mode, add layer styles to or...whatever you desire, just have fun! (Tip: It looks great if you combine one of the colored word overlays on top of one of the small white word overlays on a solid background color!) I even stuck a little something in there for our feathered friends!

For those of you that are wondering....

I haven't dropped off the planet, LOL! It suddenly became spring here in Colorado so my boys have been dragging me to the parks and playgrounds :). My computer time has been greatly limited lately so no scrapping has been done. I've been trying to do a little at night after the boys go to bed but I guess all the fresh air and sunshine has been making me tired because as soon as I get in bed and turn on my laptop, I start dosing off!!! It's raining here today and the laundry has piled up so I just may get some scrapping AND laundry done before we head to the zoo tomorrow. I have several layouts of Candy half-done and I have another freebie about ready to be released...hopefully late today or early tomorrow. So check back here soon for a goodie!

Pawprint Alpha Freebie!

It was brought to my attention that there are some programs that don't allow you to copy and paste png's from a sheet of multiple png's...like the tag alpha, brads and clips in my original kit. So, if you are among those that can't use my original "clumped" items (or would rather not), I individualized them for you! While I was at it, I created another PawprintAlpha add-on . You can find both downloads below. Enjoy!
Thank you to Tandika Star @ digiscrapdesigner for tools used in the making of this Alpha!

Original Tag Alpha, brads & clips

Of course I had to use my new alpha in a layout! I took many pictures of our trip to Lake Tahoe in 1993 but when I got home, my camera with a full load of film was stolen. I was lucky I didn't lose them all. Candy loved the boat and the water! Page 1 of Candy's Album

Journaling reads:
I had decided one day, shortly after graduating from college, that I wanted a black lab. It was an impulsive idea but since I had recently lost my childhood dog of 15 years, I knew I wanted the friendship of a new dog that would be all mine. Since the commitment of school was behind me...I was ready for a new kind of commitment.

The ad in the newspaper read ‘Black lab puppies, 8 weeks old - $25’ That sounded like a reasonable price for a dog, so I called. The person on the phone stated that the puppies had a bit of chow in them but I wasn’t picky. Greg and I took a drive to check them out.

When we arrived, the little puppies were romping around like puppies do. The mom, a lab/chow mix, was keeping a watchful eye on the strangers gathering around. The dad wasn’t around but we were told he was a chocolate lab that lived next door....good enough.

Greg was watching the male dogs but I informed him that I wanted a female. He tried to convince me otherwise but I wanted a girl. While all the puppies were frolicking in the grass, I spotted a cute little black furball off to the side having a grand old time with the water dish. I think she was trying to go swimming in it. I had my heart set on her at that moment. Admittedly, the bright pink collar she was wearing played a part in the decision, too, she looked so adorable.

We paid $25 for her that afternoon in late May, 1993. We brought her home, named her CANDY, and she spent the next 13 1/2 years enriching our lives! I’ve created this album so the memory of her will live on through generations to come.

Some wonderful comments!

Special thanks to Atomic cupcake for the silver action on the brads.
Fonts are: Missed your exit, Oh(photo)shoot and Comic sans.

Once again, thank you all for the wonderful comments and I've been given some great ideas for future projects, thank you! I'll do the best I can with birds, hamsters and snakes, LOL! I'm a little confused, though, because I got a few requests for an alpha so I need to clarify that there is an alpha in the kit (see layout above) but I put all the letters in one file so you need to open the file, select the letter you want(I just use the marqee tool) and the copy/paste into your layout. (I know, I did it the lazy way, LOL). If you did not get an alpha, let me know! Happy Scrapping!!!!

Freebie Add-On!

Well, I needed some more stuff for this kit so I made it and decided to share it with you! Special thanks to Tandika Star @ Digiscrapdesigner.com for tools used in the making of this kit. If you download this, please leave me a comment letting me know if you would like to see more stuff for this kit (specific requests would be great) or maybe a new pet kit in a different style. If I get enough requests, I'll keep adding things...if not, I'll move on to something new. Happy Scrapping!

Candy as a sweet puppy

Here's the picture that inspired my doodles which then led to my kit :)
I did this layout before I made my kit so for this I used a kit called Legacy by Michelle Shefvelund at Cottage Arts. Fonts are Sweetheart Script and 4990810 from(?).

This is Candy on her first camping trip! The frames and papers are from my new Add-on, coming soon! Font is 4990810 from (?)

This is me way back in 1993 when I first adopted Candy. We both looked so young! I still had a little of my 80's hair goin' on, LOL! I used Atomic Cupcakes tear action on one of the papers and the font is BlackJack.
