My Technique for getting a good photo of my boys!

When the time rolls around for me to get a decent photo of the boys like for a Father's Day gift for example, I always get a little stressed! If you have young kids, you know how difficult it can be. Sure, I can plan ahead and bring them to a portrait studio and let them do all the work but no, not me. I prefer the 'waiting until the last minute, cross my fingers and hope to get a good photo, then print it at home method.' I find that I have about 5 minutes from the time I start taking pictures until the boys become uninterested and then there's no hope after that. This time, I grabbed the hair gel, put on their coordinating shirts, put my camera in "muli-shot" mode, held the shutter down and snapped about 100 continuous photos. 99 of them turned out like this...

or this...
or this...
But I was lucky enough to get one just like this...

We're good until next time anyway! Ciao for now!

Hey...Those look like the faces my three kids make! :) They get better as they get older, but I find that you then have to bribe a bit, such as "if you hurry and take a nice photo you can play Xbox for an hour." After my kids take a few "good" shots, they love taking silly faces shots as well and makes for fun scrap pages.

I love your attitude, waiting 'till the last minute. lol. The way you described it made me laugh, so fun!
But...I think the others are really sweet too. ;)

Adorable!

I have two 3 year olds so I know exactly what you mean! I snap hundreds of photos in the hope that one will turn out okay. Usually, I have to photoshop someone's head onto another photo to replace a face that isn't acceptable. Hee hee..... It's an art!

Oh Chris, you have me laughing, cause guess what? It doesn't get any easier as they get older. My stepson is 18 and I now get the raised eyebrow look. And my brother is 40 and I get every excuse in the book and a pained expression. te he

I like the 100 picture approach though. Thank heavens for digital cameras.

Hi! I came here through Ikea Goddess and fell in love with your boys, lol. When I got pregnant, I wanted a girl but the ultrasound said 'not this time', lol and I kept hearing how much fun boys are. Mine, Matías is 4 months old now, and I couldn't love him more, but seeing these pics made me think people was right. Congratulations on your best creations and of course, on your 'digi work'. Cris
BTW, thanks for the freebie

Hey :) thanks so much for your visit and your kind words about my son. And yes, I have all those pets, hehe. Actually I don't have Camila (the black dog)anymore, after 11 years, on October 2007, we had to put her to sleep because she got very sick (a tumor in her spine) and you know how hard this is :(... I rescued from the street when she was a puppy (30 days old)and she lived with me even after I got married. Sweety, the cat, was adopted in February 2006. After Camila died, Dany -my hubby- bought me Lara (the border collie) as a Christmas present and Lucky joined our family in May 2008, he was also picked up from the street on our way home back from the obstetrician office... Wow1 I should have written you an e-mail.
Hugs, Cris
